Yesterday was Nate's day off. We did a few errands, and opted to have lunch at Costco. Ressa and Ammon were hungry, but still in a good mood.
Nate left me and the kids to go fill up drinks, and of course, Ammon made a mess with the ketchup. I sent Ressa over to get some napkins from the dispenser. I was watching her.
A boy approached her as she pulled the first napkin out. He went to grab it away from her. He was quite a bit bigger than her and I thought she would just give it to him. Imagine my surprise when she grabbed his advancing hand and moved it away. She then looked straight into his face and instructed him to "get your own napkin!". The little boy gave her a really shocked look, glanced back over his shoulder at his mom, and grabbed himself another napkin.
This exchange was brief, but was so funny. She may be a little girl but she does have some great attitude!

CYANNE???
Cyanne asked a couple months ago to have her ears pierced, but when she discovered she wouldn't be able to play sports with earrings in she seemed to drop that notions. Little did we know the idea was still in her head!!
When we went to get Ressa's ears pierced we didn't have Cyanne and Foster with us. They were in school. When Ressa showed Cyanne she was upset we hadn't had hers done. She was actually VERY upset about it. We finally told her if she could proove she was going to do her school work for a couple weeks we would have them done.
Lastnight we held up our end of the deal. We took her to "icing" and had her ears pierced. She had been telling me she didn't want any "diamonds" or anything "sparkly", but when she saw the studs she had to choose from she picked the saphire blue cz. She was very excited to have blue earrings. She did great with the actual piercing, but did admit later to it hurting a bit.
For all of you that can hardly believe it... here is a picture or two!

EARRINGS FOR RESSA!
Ressa has been begging for pierced ears. We initially told her she would have to wait until April, but after talking about it we decided to do it now. This way we can take her shopping for earrings for her birthday! Being forever a girl she says she will love anything pink and sparkly!
We went into "icing" (branch of Claire's) and had her pick out her studs. OF COURSE she picked the "pink diamonds" or rose colored CZ. For about two seconds she thought about not doing it, but that was short lived.
The woman who helped us was great. She had a little black teddy bear that she gave to Ressa to hold... so she wouldn't be scared. Then we examined the dots for placement, she loaded up the gun, and we began.
After the first ear Ressa said, "That hurt a little bit". Despite the pinch of pain she was grinning from ear to ear. The second side was no big deal! She spent the entire day telling everybody we came into contact with about the bear and how her ears "didn't even hurt. It was amazing.".
She has been great about letting me clean and twist them. She doesn't want an infection, so she hasn't been messing with them either! One thing about her is that she knows exactly what she wants and follows through with it. An excellent quality for a 4 year old!

FOSTER'S CAR
This is the finished result of Foster's pinewood derby car. Nate took it to work where Nick, the paint specialist, took over. He primed it, painted it with official 2009 "Corvette/Saturn sky" paint, and then put a clear coat over the top. The derby car has a better paint job than our car! All joking aside Foster was more than happy with his car, and although the races were not structured and they didn't declare a winner; he had a great time!
